About Us
When I first began making soap in 2000, it was
simply to satisfy my curiosity but have since become a labour of love.
I have always had sensitive skin and struggled with pimples and uneven
skin tone. One day I discovered that the soaps I was using were contributing
to my skin problem. It was then that I started using natural handmade
soaps such as oatmeal with positive results. I was very pleased with
the effects on my skin but found the soaps a little pricey and began
to wonder if I could make them myself. Over time my curiosity got the
best of me and I started reading several books on the art of soap making.
One Christmas I received a melt & pour soap making kit and it was
then that I discovered the joy of making soap. I wanted to do more and
within weeks I made my first cold process batch. It was very crude at
first, no fragrance but the fact that it was soap and I was making it
was very exciting. I then started to fine tune the process and began
producing more and more sophisticated batches. Before long I was giving
the soaps to my friends and family as gifts and the feedback was very
positive. Creating natural soaps and other skin care products has become
a passion for me and there is excitement in preparing every batch. Natural
soap making not only lets me use my creativity and ideas in practicing
the art but also allows me to do something that I really love. My soaps
are made to be used by people with different skin types and I invite
you to be in balance with nature and enjoy the rich natural bounties
of the earth by using Eco Natural Products.
How soap works
Soap is a result of the saponification of oils.
Saponification is due to a chemical reaction that takes place when oil
and sodium hydroxide are mixed together, the end result is soap or chemically
speaking a form of salt. The molecules that form soap are designed in
such a way that one end of the molecule which is made of hydrogen atom
is attracted to oils and repels water and the other end which is made
up of two oxygen atoms and one sodium atom is attracted to water but
repels oil. When soap molecules are placed directly between water and
oil, the water loving end pulls away from the oil and dirt as it is
attracted to clean water. This reaction of the soap molecules when exposed
to water and oil is microscopically violent and the dirt and oils are
dislodged in the process. When soap molecules are present in water its
reaction is to break down oil into billions of microscopic droplets
called emulsion. This enables water to wash the oil and dirt away. Therefore
water is the medium in which soap works and it is the vehicle for removing
dislodged dirt and oil.

Q. I have dry skin, which Eco products are best
suited for my skin type?
A. Venus Lake, Earthly Splendour and Silky Smooth
Soaps are rich in Avocado, Jojoba oils, Shea and Coco butter with Geranium
and Lavender essential oils. These oils have excellent moisturizing
properties for dry and sensitive skin. In addition, I also recommend
using the "dry skin lotion".
Q. I have oily skin, which Eco products are
best suited for my skin type?
A. To reduce oily skin condition we use Lemon,
Lime, Orange and Ylang Ylang essential oils in our Rainbow Showers and
Tropical Storm Soaps. These oils are effective in treating over productive
glands which cause greasy skin texture and clogged pores. These soaps
can also be used for acne and eczema skin conditions.
Q. What chemicals are used in the production
of Eco products?
A. Our products are free of chemicals and are
not tested on animals. Our basic ingredients are saponified oils which
include Olive, Coconut, Palm and Avocado oils. We also use large amounts
of Shea butter and Coco Butter in our soaps. Rosemary and Grapefruit
extract are used as natural preservatives and therapeutic grade essential
oils are used as fragrance.
